Resilience & Resolve 2 - On Our Unfolding Adventure

ReBoot ● ReWild ● ReInspire ● ReConnect ● ReEnergize

Dr Ken Jennings and Lutz Otto have repeatedly seen how time in nature can positively change, enrich and have a profound impact on lives. Through a series of discussions, sharing of experiences and a rich integration of perspectives, they explore what happens when nature, ecology, adventure and psychology meet.

Episode 1 set the platform for the series . In this episode we work through resolve and resilience in the context of an unfolding adventure. We talk through:

🔹 Our domestication, or urbanization, can undermine the important traits of resolve and resilience

🔹 Rise above the challenge: Focus on what you can control and accept the uncontrollable's.

🔹 Mindset, either positively or negatively, impacts resolve or resilience

🔹 And then your guide says "Dig A Hole" 😊😉

🔹 Climbing mental mountains - Transcending challenges

🔹 Experiences in nature provide us with a set of mental tools to overcome broader challenges in life

🔹 Resolve and resilience are necessary to overcome serious life challenges, including things like cancer

🔹 Good nature experiences help facilitate inner strength and build a set of psychological tools

🔹 The shadows we need to work through. Depth and positive psychology shows we all have shadows, conscious or unconscious

🔹 What is your super power you will be able to draw upon back in the urban environment

🔹 The definition of challenge and/ or extreme, is different for different people. When we overcome challenge it becomes a powerful part of our essence which can be drawn on

🔹 Resolve and resilience is not created in single dimensions. Resolve and resilience is truly multi-dimensional in that draws on a combination of skill, knowledge and experience on one level, and on our psychological, physiological and spiritual "package" on another level

🔹 The combination of many incremental and small steps result in achieving that which we aim to. Jeff Olson refers to "The Slight Edge"

🔹 The importance of hope

🔹 Resolve and resilience is an important life skill
